Once again Kate Middleton has paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on Remembrance Day.
On November 11, the Princess of Wales attended the the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall to commemorate the end of the First World War. Joining her husband Prince William, as well as King Charles and Queen Camilla, Middleton arrived at the somber event wearing a long-sleeve black dress and two pieces of jewelry that honor her late grandmother-in-law.
For one, she seemed to wear the pearl drop earrings that were gifted to then Princess Elizabeth on her 1947 wedding day by the Hakim of Bahrain. While Middleton wore the same earrings to her first Remembrance Day as the Princess of Wales in 2022, she chose not to pair them with the four-strand pearl and diamond choker she wore last year. Instead, Middleton appeared to break out the queen’s highly favored three-strand pearl necklace, which Queen Elizabeth reportedly wore “every day.”
“She wasn’t interested in material things at all,” the queen’s former assistant private secretary, Sam Cohen, told People in September 2022. “She wore the same pearl necklace every day.”
This would not be the first time Kate Middleton has worn Queen Elizabeth’s go-to pearls since her death on September 8, 2022. Ahead of the funeral, the princess was photographed wearing the piece in tribute to the late matriarch at a luncheon at Buckingham Palace. Clearly, the necklace still holds a lot of sentimental value.
