Katie Holmes is out here pushing the limits of her style influencer status.
On December 9, Holmes attended Z100’s iHeartRadio Jingle Ball wearing a look that’s so Y2K, I don’t even know what to do with myself. The former Dawson’s Creek star walked the red carpet in a strapless blue minidress, which she wore over a pair of frayed straight-leg jeans and black sneakers. It’s almost as if she looked at all the ’90s and early ’00s trends that Gen Z brought back—from low-rise everything to mall-girl slogan T-shirts—and said, “Let me show you what it was really like back then.” Your move, Hailey Bieber!
Holmes left her hair down in loose waves and wore minimal accessories, limiting herself to simple sapphire drop earrings and her silver nose ring. In keeping with the early-aughts aesthetic, she kept her makeup look glowy with a glossy mauve lip. Frankly, I think jean queen Joey Potter would approve—though she’d probably opt for even more layering.
While Katie Holmes is typically known for her classic style (no one wears a T-shirt and jeans better), the actor has been jumping from era to era in recent months. Back in November, Holmes showed off her modern take on the Roaring Twenties after venturing into a galaxy far, far away in a Tom Ford hood dress. Who doesn’t love a good throwback?
