You don’t have to be a fan of Kacey Musgraves to know the singer is all about the aesthetic, so it’s only natural that she’d show up to the Met Gala 2022 red carpet in a look.
Styled by Erica Cloud, the country music star hit the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art wearing a floor-length black Moschino gown with stunning colorful embellishments and a bow across the plunging neckline. She was the essence of Gilded Age glamour with a black feather fan, black gloves, and plenty of diamonds.
Makeup artist Moani Lee for Byredo gave the Musgrave a simple winged eyeliner look with pale pink lips and a strong contour. Her bang was split down the middle and the rest of her hair was pulled back in a elegant updo.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Kacey Musgraves has stood out on the Met Gala red carpet. In 2019 she dressed like Barbie for that year’s “Camp: Notes on Fashion” theme in a hot pink dress, big blonde wig, and a hair-dryer clutch. She even rolled up in a Barbie-inspired convertible. Cloud, Musgraves’s stylist, told the look was inspired by all things playful. “Barbie is an iconic doll that reminds us of playing make believe in our youth and that we are all young at heart,” she said.
While her look for the Met Gala 2021 red carpet was a little more subdued, it fit that year’s theme, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” perfectly. Musgraves wore a long silver skirt and simple black turtleneck with black riding boots designed by the classic American designer Ralph Lauren.
With three years under her belt and a clear understanding of the assignment, so to speak, it’s obvious Musgraves is well on her way to becoming a Met Gala staple. We already can’t wait to see what she’ll wear next year.
