Wait, was there some drama going on with and its press tour? Because Olivia Wilde hasn’t heard of it. The film’s director, who is rumored to be feuding with at least one if not all of its stars, is fresh from the New York City premiere and looking light and carefree as the daisy-petal cutouts on her dress. My favorite part of this look is undoubtedly the boots, which dial up the chunk factor to 11.
Wilde paired her beachy, almost bridal white Stella McCartney maxidress with a pair of extremely heavy boots, which I admire for several reasons. First, they are extremely New York City–appropriate shoes, with enough bulk to them that they keep Wilde’s feet and hem safe from the worst these grimy streets can throw at them. Second, the contrast between the chunky boots and the delicate dress is giving pretty princess at the top and combat-ready at the bottom.
Or perhaps the height of the boots is a visual signal that Wilde is literally rising above all of the speculation having to do with her film and its stars. In addition to her many denials that she is in a feud with Florence Pugh, she’s also had to shoot down the rumors that Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine at the Venice Film Festival. She told Stephen Colbert, “He did not, but I think it’s a perfect example of people will look for drama anywhere they can.”
“People can look at a video that shows evidence of not spitting on someone else and they’ll still see what they want to see and that is the creation of drama and that is clickbait,” she told the late-night host.
Olivia Wilde and her boots are both over the drama, everyone.
