Spanning 36,000 square feet of retail selling space, the store will officially open this summer and will offer its usual assortment across womenswear, menswear and kidswear, plus beauty, homeware and accessories.
Primark has been expanding rapidly across the U.S. and currently operates 17 stores in seven states. The Maryland opening follows plans revealed last month to open three other new stores this summer, in New York and New Jersey.
In particular, the new stores will open at Green Acres Mall in Long Island, NY on June 22, The Mills at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth, NJ on July 6, and Crossgates Mall in AlbanyLooking ahead, Primark aims to scale to 60 stores by 2026, and also announced plans to further expand into the southern US, including in Texas.
As part of the store openings, Primark has hired Tanesha Carter as head of talent acquisition to support its expanding teams across the country. Carter brings 20 years of human resources experience to Primark. She joins from Ikea
Primark said it is looking to hire retail leaders to fill roles including roles in retail management, people and culture and visual merchandising.
“With our expansion in the US well underway, it was critical to have the right leader in place to build our store teams,” said John Hadeed, VP people and culture, US.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Tanesha to Primark and support her as we expand into new cities and states all over the country. We look forward to opening our recruitment center and meeting the people that make up Hanover so we can bring Primark to Arundel Mills in a way that best serves Maryland.”
