Who wears short shorts? Apparently, Kiernan Shipka.
The actor was photographed at the Venice Biennale in Italy on April 21 wearing a three-piece shorts suit—but it’s not the kind of traditional three-piece you’re imagining.
Rather than a vest, the Valentino set included a tailored tweed jacket, matching high-waist shorts that featured a frayed hem, and a bandeau bra top worn without a shirt underneath. The 22-year-old styled the suit with platform Mary Janes and a quilted Rockstud bag, both also by Valentino.
See the look below:
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star is only the latest to swap pants for shorts when it comes to wearing suits. Julia Roberts wore a Gucci shorts suit to the red-carpet premiere of Gaslit on Tuesday, April 19, and Amanda Seyfried wore a cranberry-colored velvet shorts suit by Zadig & Voltaire during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon earlier this month.
Shipka shared the love for the Italian fashion brand as well as its designer, Pierpaolo Piccioli, on Instagram on Thursday as well. She posted two photos to her Stories where she models a Barbie pink Valentino minidress with daisy appliqués, styled with matching opera gloves and the hot pink version of the brand’s patent platform Mary Janes.
Also on Instagram, the actor posted a tribute to her late Mad Men costar Robert Morse, whose death at age 90 was announced on Thursday. Shipka, who launched her career with the series starting at just eight years old, has often spoken about maintaining close relationships with the costars, who watched her grow up over eight years of filming, from 2007 to 2015. Last January she enjoyed a “girls night” with former castmates January Jones and Christina Hendricks. Her onscreen dad, Jon Hamm, also attended her 20th birthday in 2019.
Most fans her age, however, will recognize the actor for her work on Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a role which she reprised in a cameo on the hit show Riverdale.
Truth be told, I prefer Shipka in her best role to date: fashion icon.
