The see-through dress isn’t just a fashion trend for Rita Ora. It is her way of life. Sometimes her sheer looks are lingerie-inspired. Sometimes she frees the nipple in sheer. She wears sheer mesh, sheer latex, and sheer chiffon. And on July 13, she wore a sequined fishnet slip over a black bra and underwear set which, on the Rita Ora scale of sheer fashion, was relatively demure. You might be tempted to compare this dress to a beach cover-up, but I think that would be a mistake. Because it’s not doing much covering up.
The dress didn’t do all the talking with this look. The singer also had a lot of fun with her accessories, including a belly chain and matching choker and bracelet set that resembled barbed wire. A pair of sparkly silver cowboy boots completed the ensemble, which was nothing if not pure Ora.
“I’ve had it my whole career: having people judge what I wear, saying, ‘Is she too naked?’ Or, ‘Can she say things like that?’ I find it extremely misogynistic,” Rita Ora told Glamour in May, citing Madonna as an inspiration for her fearless style. “I’m thanking her for that, because that’s given me the ability to be more outrageous, a bit more outlandish with things: how I dress, things I might say. I’m not perfect, but I think that’s what keeps my fans entertained the most.”
