Rita Ora—star of Fifty Shades, singer of songs, gal who is just always wearing some sheer stuff—will grace the stage at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, but first she has to slay the red carpet.
But tonight wasn’t like other nights for Ora, who is set to present an award at the ceremony. Instead of her usual see-through looks, she decided to wear an uncharacteristically covered up dress—a black off-the-shoulder Rodarte gown with never-ending statement sleeves. To finish the look, Ora let her hair hang loose in a sleek blowout and her makeup centered on a shimmering smoky eye paired with a petal pink lip.
Due to the aforementioned statement sleeves, it’s unclear whether Rita Ora showed up wearing the unusual emerald engagement ring she got from husband Taika Waititi. Until appearing on , Ora hadn’t revealed the sparkler publicly. “Because I love you and I feel like you’re part of our relationship, weirdly, because we watch you every night, I just felt like I’ll show you it,” she said, holding up her hand for the camera. “He did good.”
Ora had more than a hand in the selection process for the bauble. “I just think, like, when you know what you want, and I felt like I really knew that I wanted to be with this person, I just wanted it to feel really right,” she explained. “I may have taken him to the shop and I may have pointed out exactly what ring I wanted.”
The Glamour Germany cover girl just released her third album and seems to be loving newlywed life with Waititi. She’s also been having fun with her typically playful sense of style, recently pairing a fuzzy black and pink jacket with a fishnet skirt held together by a heart-shaped clip.
