Toss the fisherman sandals and espadrilles to the back of your closet: Knee-high boots are officially the It shoe of the summer, and Rita Ora is all in.
In a recent Instagram post, the Fifty Shades of Grey actor posed in the kickiest fit: a barely there crochet halter bikini top, a pleated denim skirt, and boots that appear at first glance to be go-go style but are actually sneakers that lace all the way up her calf. Accessorized with a white bag and big sunglasses, it’s giving early-aughts J.Lo and Cheerleader Avril.
In another pic, Ora reveals that the boots are Dior, or as they say on the back, “J’Adior” (she’s a big fan of this phrase, wearing a “J’adore cowboys” tee two days ago). She also gave a glimpse at the very cute, very mod white dress she wore for her performance on Love Island, completed with white cowboy boots.

So knee-high boots…officially celebs’ favorite midsummer look? In a seeming rejection of the socks-with-sandals trend, Priyanka Chopra Jonas stepped out at Wimbledon in peep-toe boots so high they disappeared beneath the skirt of her dress. And Dua Lipa went full sweaty girl in an oversize leather moto jacket and matching chunky knee-high boots, heat be darned.
Rita Ora previously rocked the lace-up boot look during a Pride performance, though those shoes were heels in a bright Barbiecore pink (supercute—take a look here). And are these…suede cowboy boots at Glastonbury? Glad to see her shaking things up with something, anything, that isn’t a sheer dress. Yes, it’s great to have a signature look, but Ora was in danger of getting stuck in a style rut!
Ms. Ora, if you don’t drop a cover of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walkin,’” then I’m just not sure anymore. I’m just not sure.
