Heidi Klum threw it all the way back to her earliest days as a model by sharing some snaps from her teenage years on Instagram.
Klum captioned the pictures—10 polaroids in which she tries on various one-piece swimsuits—in German, but a translation on Page Six says that she wrote, “Similarly to how I look at photos and videos of models for [Germany’s Next Top Model], these photos were my application photos for my 1992 modeling competition. My mom brought me a box of lots of old pictures from the basement.” The competition was in Germany, where Klum grew up.

So serious! It’s when she smiles that we really see the Heidi we know and love.
In the pictures, Klum is just 19, and as Britannica tells us, she won that competition! Her prize was a $300,000 modeling contract, and her career as a magazine cover model took off shortly after.
The model and Project Runway star also shared a black-and-white pic of herself at 16. We all start somewhere.

These days Klum is more of a bikini fan than a one-piece gal, not to mention a fan of the stunning red-carpet gown. Over the summer she managed to combine both, showing up at Paris Fashion Week in a John Paul Gaultier dress that was floor-length black eveningwear on one side, and tied-together blue aerial silks on the other. Handmade by the designer for her in 2017, no big deal.
Cute, sweet, nostalgic, fun. But come on, Heidi, you know the content we want. It’s almost Halloween! After the absolutely epic “worm” costume she wore last year, we are counting down the days until we get to see what she does next. Personally, I think she should be a worm again, but spooky, though clearly Heidi Klum needs no help when it comes to figuring out a look. She’s been doing it since ’92.
