If you thought Bella Hadid couldn’t top her Coperni runway moment…well, she didn’t. But her latest Paris Fashion Week look was still pretty wild.
On October 3, Hadid walked Thom Browne’s spring-summer 2023 fashion show in what has to be the lowest-rise miniskirt the world has ever seen paired with an extremely visible thong—all over a red shirred bodysuit. I know what you’re thinking: this can’t be suitable for work. Well, she wore it with a cropped white button-up and a mini blazer, so I think it’s fine.
As much as every girl who grew up in the mid-’90s wishes it wasn’t so, low-rise everything is here to stay. Bella Hadid proved as much while walking for Thom Browne and Givenchy…
And Stella McCartney…
…and just while walking around Paris IRL. The good news is that those tiny vests that were all the rage in the mid-’90s and early ’00s are also making a return, though Hadid did not wear hers over a long white camisole as I did in 2005.
Of course, Bella Hadid’s true show-stopping moment occurred on September 30. The model closed the Coperni spring-summer 2023 in nothing but a pair of high-cut panties. In front of a room full of fashion editors, buyers, and influencers, Hadid was sprayed down with Fabrican, a groundbreaking nonwoven synthetic fiber material that can be applied via an aerosol can or spray gun device.
Right before their very eyes, Hadid went from nearly naked to walking the rest of the runway in a body-hugging white dress, instantly customized with off-the-shoulder straps and a thigh-high slit. (See the process in greater detail, here.)
According to , Coperni designers Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillan dedicated the modern show to “women of this world,” writing, “To you, women who transcend your body and never lower your gaze before the barbed wire of morality.”
I’m not a hundred percent sure what that means, but it probably applies to low-rise skirts as well….
