Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales (Kate Middleton) chose an appropriately sparkly dress for a glitzy event: her father-in-law King Charles III’s 75th birthday.
The royal soiree, held at Clarence House in London, was not attended by the Duke and Duchess of Montecito Sussex, though apparently Harry and his dad had a “warm” phone call for the occasion, and grandkids Archie and Lilibet made a “happy birthday” video. Cute. Prince William, of course, was there with his wife and wore a black tuxedo. You can see a pic of the pair leaving the event here.
Okay, so the dress. Long-sleeve with a high collar and covered in beads. It’s the Alicia Scallop Gown from Needle & Thread, and though the green version is no longer available, you can snag your own in pale pink or white-gold version for $1,089. Since there’s no full-body pic of her look (yet), let’s all take a moment to remember and appreciate another time she shimmered in green, when she visited Ireland and wore a dress from the trendy brand Vampire’s Wife.
One of her best and most festive looks? In my humble opinion, yes. And it’s way more modern than the princess usually lets herself look. Have some fun, Kate! Slay!
In fact, this absolute serve was forever memorialized in an oil portrait of the Waleses in which the mom of three looks kinda fantastic. Wish she’d give into her resting sass face more, honestly.

Kate Middleton tends to stick with a (winning) formula: suits by day, sparkles by night. She recently wore a head-to-toe purple pantsuit, after a run of blazers, blazers, and more blazers. And it totally works! But you just know she’s desperate to slip into some athleisure at home.
