Alaïa links with Superga for new tennis shoe
Alaïa’s creative director Pieter Mulier has joined forces with Italian footwear brand Superga
This alliance features both Alaïa’s staple double “A” stitches and perforated eyelets, giving a modern and elegant twist to the timeless Superga 2750 and 2790. The former design, invented in Turin in 1925 by founder Walter Marigny, is known as the first vulcanized rubber-soled shoe.
Mulier’s updated Alaïa version is unisex and limited edition, and can be had in white canvas – emblematic of Superga’s trendy casualness – or in a dark, crocodile-embossed leather. One can choose between a low-top or platform sole: another ode to a contemporary way of dressing that mixes both comfort and sophistication.
A pioneer in high-street-meets-high-fashion collaborations, Alaïa first made use of popular French department store Tati
The Alaïa x Superga is available exclusively in the Alaïa stores and on maison-alaia.com
