The Princess of Wales—formerly known as Kate Middleton—proved navy is always a classic color choice as she flipped pancakes during a visit to a nursing home on Tuesday, February 21. Donning a simple turtleneck, Roland Mouret trousers, and Emmy London shoes, which were all elegantly offset by a favorite camel coat by Max&Co., Kate was at her dazzling best as she met staff members and residents at Oxford House Nursing Home.
During the visit, the princess, who wore a face mask, spent time with 109-year-old resident Nora, speaking about their birthdays and favorite foods. On being told Nora had celebrated her birthday on January 7, Kate, who recently turned 41, exclaimed, “That’s two days before mine! Fellow Capricorn!,” in a nod to their shared star sign. There was another similarity: their love of kidneys. Nora revealed her favorite food is the dish served with Brussels sprouts. “Oh kidneys,” the royal responded. “I love kidneys too.”
Always willing to throw herself into royal engagements, Kate demonstrated her pancake-making skills. The royal was also shown some of the nursing home’s cutting-edge practices, including a sensory table, and delighted staff members by posing for a photo outside in the award-winning garden.
The official Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account marked the visit with a touching slideshow and a caption celebrating the institution. It read, “Here at Oxford House, an award-winning, family-run nursing home in Slough, residents like Nora are cared for in such a homely and comfortable environment, with innovative tech helping enrich their daily lives. Thanks for having us! And we couldn’t miss the chance to celebrate #ShroveTuesday now could we?”
