Niecy Nash and her wife, Jessica Betts, were arguably the cutest couple on the AMAs red carpet.
The pair, who married in August 2020, attended the 50th annual American Music Awards on Sunday, November 20, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. They even gave everyone watching a little PDA (not in the style of Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox, though, thankfully).
Nash went for a sleek and sexy all-black look. She wore a figure-hugging floor-length gown with a cowl neck and mermaid hem. She paired the dress with long black leather opera gloves and wore her hair straight and sleek with a middle part.
Betts, a musician, wore a more colorful look. Her green tuxedo featured a curved pattern of dark green, yellow, and red, and her trousers had a red and black stripe down one side. Underneath the jacket, she wore a yellow shirt with a black collar. Betts finished the look with black patent leather loafers, gold glasses, and earrings.
Niecy Nash joined host Wayne Brady on stage during the ceremony in a second look: an asymmetrical black velvet gown with a Hocus Pocus–esque hood.
“[My marriage] has absolutely nothing to do with gender and it has everything to do with her soul,” Nash told of her relationship in 2020. “[Betts] is the most beautiful soul I have ever met in my life.
“I was not suppressing my sexuality my whole life,” she added. “I love who I love. At one point in my life, I married twice and I love those people. And today I love this person. I’ve done everything I wanted to do on my own terms and my own way. So my choice now in a partner has nothing to do with who I’ve always been. It’s a matter of who I am in this moment.”
