Naomi Campbell and the late Azzedine Alaïa were incredibly close. Often referring to the legendary designer as “Papa,” the model walked every major runway spectacle Alaïa hosted, and she wore his iconic pieces at milestone public appearances. This week Campbell—who recently received an honorary doctorate from the University for the Creative Arts at Epsom—showed she still waves the flag for the Parisian maison under its new creative direction from Pieter Mulier.
Arriving at dinner in London, the 52-year-old model looked absolutely radiant in a couture take on the denim-on-denim look. A blue denim jacket with a matching midi skirt, a black figure-hugging tank top, and a pair of black leather cutout sandals, all of which were by Alaïa, completed the look. Naomi accessorized with a dark purple Hermès Kelly bag and oversized black shades.
Whoever said double denim isn’t chic obviously hasn’t seen this particular set designed by Mulier for Alaïa. Throw on some statement accessories, as Naomi Campbell does here, and turn a divisive double-denim look into something dinner-party-appropriate.
