It’s Paris Fashion Week, and fashion’s hottest model of the moment is none other than Emily in Paris star Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu.
The French star took her talents to the catwalk during her high-fashion debut at the Weinsanto women’s wear fall-winter 2022 in the fashion capital of the world. Wearing an avant-garde printed dress with a tight-fitting bodice, thigh-high black boots, and an oversized cape-headpiece, Leroy-Beaulieu stole the show during the label’s Murder in Paris collection. The actor closed out the show hand in hand with designer Victor Weinsanto, who later thanked the actor and “everybody involved in this adventure” on Instagram.
The 58-year-old actor, best known for playing the icy yet glamorous Sylvie Grateau, is no stranger to the fashion circuit. When she isn’t on set, you’ll find her sitting front row at major shows with outfits that would put any ringarde American marketing director to shame (sorry, Emily!). Who can forget her sheer emerald midi dress during her outing at the AMI menswear fall-winter 2022 show earlier this year?
High fashion hasn’t always been known for its kindness to older women, especially those whose fine lines and sun spots are worn with pride. More often than not, the models you’ll see on the catwalk are tall, thin, and seemingly under the age of 25. Although there’s an unspoken “expiration” date for a lot of faces in the fashion world, recent years have shown older women dominating the catwalk at such major runway shows as Tia Adeola and Balenciaga.
“Aging gracefully is being a kinder person than you were when you were younger, because life kind of polishes you,” Leroy-Beaulieu previously told Glamour. “And having a better understanding of how people feel, who people are, and having more compassion and less competition with everybody else.”
Here’s hoping Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu’s newfound runway talent makes its way to Emily in Paris season three. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see Sylvie walking in the Celine show with a miniskirt on?
