FatFace expands to Canada

Hungry for further international expansion, UK-based fashion retailer FatFace has debuted in Canada with three stores, and plans to expand its physical presence there while adding a country-specific website in 2024.

Following a successful trading performance in the US, it has opened stores across the border in Barrie

All three Canadian stores stock a national flag-inspired, 100% cotton sweatshirt with a maple leaf motif in red-and-white colourways.

CEO Will Crumbie said: “We’ve developed a successful and profitable business in the US over the past year, and our expansion into Canada is the next stage of growth.

“From listening to our customers, we know the Canadian consumer is looking for clothes to suit an active lifestyle, be that in the mountains or by the sea, which is why FatFace’s core ethos of providing clothing for all the family to live life in resonates so strongly.

“It is also exciting to have grown our FatFace crew to include Canadian locals. We have 22 new colleagues that have joined us and we’re proud to be committing to further stores in the region this year to grow the teams even further.”

The expansion comes after a strong half-year North America performance, up 18% year-on-year with the region accounting for 8% of all sales made during the six-month trading period to 7 January.

FatFace currently has 26 US stores after debuting there six years ago. The retailer’s core business is in the UK where it has 180 stores.
