Sarah Jessica Parker, now starring in Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite on Broadway with her husband, Matthew Broderick, arrived at opening night looking like a cross between a tiara and a ballerina, or even the new lead on , and we mean that in the very best way.
On Monday, March 28, she walked the red carpet at the Hudson Theatre in a Prabal Gurung gown and silver heels from her own shoe collection. Her hair in an oversized bun, she looked the way I imagine Cinderella’s fairy godmother might. She had teased the look earlier in the evening on Instagram, writing, “Just wait until you see the front. No words right now. I’m sure they’ll come later. See you in Suite 719. X, SJ” alongside a picture of her outfit from behind.

The bottom layer of the dress is silk crepe-back satin, per . Gurung told the publication, “It’s not a bright pink, it’s almost like it has a light film of dust on it.” The outer layer is transparent silk tulle hand-embroidered with crystals, sequins, and beads. “There’s something very old-school about it, like it’s from a classic Avedon photograph,” Gurung said of the completed look. “It’s glamorous, but it’s still graceful.”
The play, a comedy, is divided into three acts, each following a different couple staying, at a different time, in the same hotel suite. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick play the couples throughout, and the Sex and the City star and fashion icon is getting some excellent reviews. “Parker ultimately walks away with the show,” wrote . “Parker is giving the most, carrying the comedy on her narrow shoulders,” says .
