Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, paid her respects to the late Prince Phillip on Tuesday, March 29, with the rest of the royal family at a memorial service held almost a year after the Duke of Edinburgh’s death.
She wore a polka-dot maxi dress from designer Alessandra Rich that featured a knife-pleated skirt, long sleeves, oblong shoulder pads, and a high neck. Middleton held hands with her daughter, Princess Charlotte, at the estminster Abbey service. The silk crepe dress featured a matching belt in the same polka-dot material for an illusion look that almost disappears amongst the pattern.
A simple cream clutch, leather gloves, and pearl drop earrings were the accessory of choice for the duchess as was a large hat. Her hair was collected in a low-placed updo so as to not disturb the hat placement, with the added benefit of showing off her silky brunette strands.
Fourth in line for the throne, Charlotte seems to be an exact mix of her parents Prince William and Kate Middleton. She wore a double-breasted navy blue coat, with her hair pulled back by two mini braids. Both she and the duchess kept shoes simple in black, and Charlotte wore tights of a slightly lighter shade of blue.
Kate and William have been busy with their royal duties, recently coming back from a trip to the Caribbean in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee. On Tuesday it was a full affair to celebrate the life of the late Duke of Edinburgh, and all the royals came out—including, of course, Queen Elizabeth, the late Duke’s wife. Prince Andrew, their son, was also attendance. This is notable because the Duke of York was recently relieved of his royal duties in wake of the accusations and a lawsuit settlement surrounding his alleged rape of Virginia Giuffre.
