Kendall Jenner has been pushing her styling choices outside of her comfort zone recently, and when it comes to wearing trousers, she frequently opts to go without them. Case in point: At this year’s Met Gala, the supermodel graced the red carpet in a custom sequined Marc Jacobs bodysuit, eschewing pants altogether (her after-party outfit also left little to the imagination). Prior to that, she attracted attention by wearing a trouser-free ensemble from Bottega Veneta’s spring-summer 2023 show, which featured black tights, underwear, and a knit crewneck sweater layered over a white shirt.

When Did Everyone Stop Wearing Pants?

The latest trend in bottoms is not wearing any at all.

Kendall’s most recent summer outfit reinforces her fondness for the pants-free look. This week, the new-era supermodel turned heads in New York City with yet another pants-less outfit, but this time it had a distinct all-American flair. The look consisted of a white buttoned-up shirt paired with an oversized navy blazer. Kendall completed the outfit with white hot pants and a sleek pair of black leather loafers from The Row. She accessorized her preppy outfit with a black leather tote bag slung over her shoulders, square-frame sunglasses in black, small silver hoop earrings and topped it off with a navy New York Yankees baseball cap.

As one of the most sought-after models of the moment, Jenner often graces the runway in looks that highlight her elongated pins. However, in the spring-summer 2023 collections, which are now available in stores worldwide, there was a noticeable surge in the trend for wearing underwear as outerwear. Fashion brands such as Miu Miu, Prada, Dior, Coperni, and even the recent Jacquemus show in Versailles showcased many variations on this trend.
