While red is undeniably the color of the season, the Barbiecore trend that has dominated ever since we got a first glimpse of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie last summer shows no signs of going anywhere, either. The latest celebrity to embrace head-to-toe pink? Florence Pugh.
At Valentino’s spring-summer 2024 show in Paris, the actor opted for a double-breasted blazer and wide-leg trousers in baby pink, paired with a girlish bow-shaped bralette underneath and sky-high platforms. While the saccharine-sweet look may have been too much for some, Pugh’s peroxide-blonde hair and aviator shades added a punkish edge to proceedings.
Florence Pugh was by no means the only A-lister to opt for pink on the front row, with her We Live in Time costar Andrew Garfield wearing a cotton-candy-pink coat, paired with a burnt orange blouse and beige trousers. Meanwhile, Paris Hilton took it back to her The Simple Life days in a magenta tweed minidress, along with a matching bag and highlighter heels.
Of course, Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli has as much to do with the Barbiecore trend as Gerwig, with his particular shade of Pink PP seen on everyone from Zendaya to Anne Hathaway (and, of course, Pugh) following his autumn-winter 2022 show. With hot pink once again making an appearance on his spring-summer 2024 catwalk (albeit briefly), it seems dressing like Barbie is here to stay.
