Union Los Angeles and J.Crew drop a unique capsule collection
The J.Crew
Long-time friends Chris Gibbs, founder of Union Los Angeles, and J.Crew creative director Brendon Babenzien, haved joined forces to reinterpret “J.Crew classic Americana aesthetic juxtaposed with Union’s sensibilities as an archetypal streetwear brand.”
“I am really proud of what we built. It’s subtle by nature, but we tried to make something that could live organically in both J.Crew doors and Union doors. I think we did that,” said Chris Gibbs.
The collaboration features a range of apparel and accessories that take classic J.Crew silhouettes, playfully updated to bring West Coast casual to iconic East Coast style. Fits are slightly oversized in width and cropped in height. Coats, pants and caps have been made from Herringbone twill fabric, a twill fabricated to the part of denim, tributing workwear staples with a trademark.
In addition, the capsule collection adds alpaca and fleece pieces that pay homage to the spirit of J.Crew, and also playful, mismatched plaids.
“Chris is one of my oldest friends and also one of the people I call when I need advice,” commented Babenzien. “He’s a genuine as they come and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him. A true individual.”
The collection is accompanied by a new set of campaign visuels. Set in Sag Harbor, a historically Black neighborhood within the Hamptons, the location leans into the legacy and Northeastern roots of both brands.
The Union Los Angeles x J.Crew capsule collection is available at Union LA, Union Tokyo, Union Osaka, J.Crew Bowery and on their e-shops.
