Bella Hadid has a way with unexpected outfits. Taking cues from the most unlikely sources (see: UPS employees and mall goths), she’s mastered the art of making niche style references feel fresh and just right for now. Her latest source of inspiration? The yeehaw trend you’re probably trying to forget from 2020.
On April 13, Hadid was spotted in New York, looking like she stepped off the set of a Western. The supermodel wore a brown grandpa vest over a white baby tee, plus chocolate brown leather pants and heeled snakeskin loafers. For her accessories, she may as well have cleared out the bank’s vault with her chunky gold jewelry and even chunkier belt. She was just missing a getaway horse.
Although each element alone could read as too much—the belt alone is enough to blind passersby—there’s a harmony among all the earth tones and the gold. Hadid pulled back where she could have ventured into costume territory. She opted for pants over chaps, heeled loafers over cowboy boots, and a plain vest over fringe. (She left her cowboy hat at home too.)
The model makes a convincing case that we should all be looking to the Wild West when getting dressed this spring, with an eye for detail and contemporary touches. (Laptops included.) Take these cowpoke-inspired pieces for a spin to giddyup the Bella Hadid way.
