Moosejaw to open first Utah store in Salt Lake City
Outdoor retailer Moosejaw announced plans to open a new retail store in Salt Lake City near the trendy 9th and 9th neighborhood.
Opening its doors on October 21, at 470 South 900 East, the new Moosejaw Salt Lake City store will be the retailer’s first location in Utah.
Spanning 8,200 square foot, the new store will retail gear, apparel and footwear for outdoor activities ranging from camping and climbing to skiing and biking, featuring leading brands like Arc’teryx, Black DiamondMountain HardwearPatagoniaThe North Face
“The Salt Lake area is a uniquely active community with amazing access to the outdoors,” said Moosejaw CEO, Eoin Comerford. “We are excited to be part of this community of enthusiasts that share our passion. Our Grand Opening Fair will be full of outdoor fun and activities and we look forward to a busy weekend.”
Founded in 1992, Moosejaw is an active outdoor retailer that retails online, as well as via its physical stores in Michigan, Illinois, Colorado, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri and Utah. It carries more than 600 brands.
In 2017, U.S. retail giant Walmart acquired Moosejaw for some $51 million, before Dick’s Sporting Goods bought the retailer for in February this year.
In September, it was reported that Dick’s Sporting Goods plans to close all but three of the 14 of its Moosejaw stores, as the outdoor retailer’s parent looks to “operate more efficiently” across all its retail banners moving forward.
Store locations reportedly affected include seven stores in Michigan, along with one each in Olathe, Kan.; Chicago; Boulder, Colo.; and Kansas City, Mo.
