Amal Clooney was the belle of the ball at the second annual Albie Awards in New York City. Held by the Clooney Foundation for Justice at the New York Public Library, the ceremony honors “courageous defenders of justice who are at great risk for what they do.”
The famed human rights lawyer stunned in a white floor-length Versace gown covered entirely in rhinestone netting. She gave Vogue the scoop on the custom look, having flown to Milan to collaborate on the design with the Versace team. Famously, Amal doesn’t work with a stylist.
“I actually had taken a sample from a simple beach dress that I have, and we worked from there,” she told Vogue. “It’s fun. You can make your look an expression of your mood. But it definitely helps to have talented people like their team at Versace.”
She accessorized the dress with a clutch with a rhinestone clasp, long diamond earrings, and a cuff bracelet as well as several rings. Her Oscar-winning husband, George, opted for a black tuxedo. Plenty of other Hollywood heavy hitters turned out for the special occasion too, including Anne Hathaway, Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber, Matt Damon and wife Luciana Barroso, husband and wife Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz, and supermodel Kate Moss.
Amal Clooney has been married to George for almost nine years now, and the two have twins Ella and Alexander as well as a home on Lake Como in Northern Italy. In August, Amal took home an award of her own at the 2023 DVF Awards in Venice, where she was honored for her work on behalf of human rights abuse victims globally.
