Allison Janney heard we were doing sheer dresses on the red carpet this year and came for everybody’s throat in this see-through black gown at the premiere of The People We Hate at the Wedding—a film I will be cuing up immediately.
Her slinky, figure-hugging Naeem Khan dress is nearly covered in sequins, has a turtleneck collar, cutout sleeves, and fully visible boobs. Hell, yes. With one look, Janney has defeated both ageism in Hollywood and sexism everywhere.
This look obviously goes quite hard on the Vampira/Barbarella aesthetic, down to the smoky eye and bold lip. However, Janney pared it back just a tinge by keeping her hair in its usual chic bob. A classic Tyler Ellis clutch and heeled Stuart Weitzman sandals complete the ensemble. Perfection.
On the internet, naturally, Janney’s sheer gown sparked all kinds of thirst. “ALLISON JANNEY IM FREE EVERY SINGLE DAY OF MY LIFE,” tweeted one fan. “Allison janney i am free on thursday night if u want to hang out please read this and then let me know if u want to hang out on thursday night when i am free,” tweeted another. “I have seen the photos of Allison Janney on the red carpet in that dress and I simply ask for your thoughts and privacy at this time as I try to work though this,” another person joked.
Honestly, how else are any of us supposed to handle this when we were given no warning?
